As lockdown eases and the restrictions start to lift, the London region of Porsche Club GB’s Out East is the first event of the year. At last, we can get out and drive, meet up with like-minded soles for a coffee and a chat.

During these strange times we can’t get out as regularly as we’d like to. Driving solo, in your own car is safe and meeting up outside in small numbers is allowed. So the thoughts of an early morning jaunt over to East London, for an appropriately socially distanced catch up with like-minded folks was too much to resist.

Having been invited down to Sykes Harley Davidson for a tour round their facilities, it was a pleasant surprise to also witness the unveiling of there 2020 Battle of the Kings entry.
What is one to do when in LA on a Saturday morning? Get up early and head to Huntington Beach for coffee and doughnuts, that’s what. The fact the car park will be full of cool rides might also influence my suggestion to you.
After last years one day show, we returned to the Hop Farm for a full weekend fun. Once again we were blessed with fantastic weather all weekend.
After enjoying last years Revival so much another visit was always going to happen. This time I had a much better idea of what to expect and once again was not disappointed. Revival celebrates the sights and sounds of the circuit’s hay day period of 1948–1966. This year there was a particular focus on the ’60s.
The Shere Hill Climb has become an established part of the motoring social calendar but remains relatively small. Knowing little about the event, I took a chance and headed over to the Surrey hills.
Another year, another Festival of Speed, and once again the Duke of Richmond and his team deliver one of the best celebrations of motoring and motorsport. Another Sunday and another breakfast meet-up. This was my first time attending Squadron Scramble Cars & Coffee at North Weald Airfield, over in Essex. I think I spent almost as long driving around the airfield perimeter road as I did driving from Kent. I hadn’t appreciated how expansive North Weald is on previous visits for drag racing events.
The Sunday Scramble started off as a small cars and coffee event, but it’s become an institution in its own right. It brings together a real mix of cars, owners, and enthusiasts—where else can you see a bare-bones 1920s Rolls Royce parked alongside a Renault 5 turbo?
Indian Motorcycles has a history of success in flat track racing and now they’re bringing that to the street. I was lucky enough to be invited to the UK launch at Krazy Horse London.
Heading out to LA in October usually means a weekend of fun in the sun. While we did have a lot of fun, there wasn’t much sun to start with. This was one of our regular ‘weekend’ trips to LA.

This year summer has delivered us weeks of sunshine and heat, you could be forgiven for thinking we were in California. Why then, on the day the Luftgekühlt crew put on their inaugural event outside of LA, does the weather let us down with epic rainfall?
