Donut Derelicts sticker

Donut Derelicts, Saturday morning, Huntington Beach, CA

What is one to do when in LA on a Saturday morning? Get up early and head to Huntington Beach for coffee and doughnuts, that's what. The fact the car park will be full of cool rides might also influence my suggestion to you.

The Donut Derelicts meet has been running every Saturday morning since February 1985 in the parking lot on the corner of Adams Avenue and Magnolia Street. Adams Ave Donuts serve up amazing doughnuts and I hear the coffee is pretty good too – I don’t drink the stuff so can’t comment.

Proceedings start around 07:00 and the car park fills up quickly, as does Adams Ave Donuts. It’s a real local car meet covering mainly classics, but all types of vehicles turn up. This visit was busier than last time and below is a gallery of snapshots which hopefully give you an idea of the mix of cool rides in attendance. You can probably work out that I was slightly taken by this beautiful 1948 Chevy Suburban…

Yet, by now, I should know better than to underestimate the draw of Andre’s events. Over 80 Porsches, spanning all types and eras, created a visual and aural treat for everyone who braved the weather.
