Porsche 911 Dakar

Brands Hatch Festival of Porsche

Early September saw the return of the popular Festival of Porsche at Brands Hatch. The festival provided another chance to celebrate all things Porsche during this 75th anniversary year of Porsche Cars and the 60th anniversary of the 911. In the true spirit of the marque, there was plenty of on-track action alongside all the static displays around the historic race circuit.

Beautiful Breakfast Brew with the Legends Drivers Club

This year’s final bank holiday Monday saw the Legends Drivers Club running another of their Breakfast Brew meet-ups at the Westerham Brewery. The thought of a lovely sunny morning drive, a chance to hang out, drink coffee and talk Porsche for a few hours, was too good to pass by.

Unleashing Porsche Passion – a Quick Road Trip to the FlatSix Show at Goodwood Motor Circuit

Last year’s inaugural FlatSix Show displayed a high standard through the images and reports which surfaced after the event, making it a definite on my calendar for this year. With all good intentions, the day was blocked out in my calendar, but for some reason, I hadn’t purchased a ticket. Two weeks before, I was still sat on the fence. It took a message from a good friend about an early morning B-road jaunt down to Goodwood before I committed and bought my ticket. With the meeting place agreed upon and time set for ‘oh-my-it’s-early’, another Porsche adventure was ahead of us.

Having been invited down to Sykes Harley Davidson for a tour round their facilities, it was a pleasant surprise to also witness the unveiling of there 2020 Battle of the Kings entry.

Squadron Scramble May 2019

Get up early on Sunday mornings, and a whole host of adventures are waiting for you. This week, I headed over to Essex with some of the Porsche GB crew for a gentle drive.
Another Sunday and another breakfast meet-up. This was my first time attending Squadron Scramble Cars & Coffee at North Weald Airfield, over in Essex. I think I spent almost as long driving around the airfield perimeter road as I did driving from Kent. I hadn’t appreciated how expansive North Weald is on previous visits for drag racing events.

911UK breakfast meet

911UK April Breakfast Meet

We were blessed with glorious sun for this months 911UK Kent breakfast meet at the Toby Carvery, Badger Mount. Given that it was the same day as Bister Heritage Sunday Scramble there was still a great turn out. While most were water-cooled later models, two guards red 80’s air-cooled 911’s graced the car park with their presence – one of which was still driven by the original owner. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to chat with him, but I’ll try and catch him at another event. Once again I found this group super friendly, welcoming and I left having made more new friends.

911UK Bank Holiday breakfast meet

Bank holiday Monday and it was another early start to meet up with some of the 911UK crew at Westerham Brewery for a drive down to Rye harbour for breakfast. I think we had 11 911’s leave the brewery with the aim of meeting others down at the Bosun’s Bite. With the M25 shut, it meant the A25 was very busy eastbound and our cruise became two groups quite quickly. The wet weather, potholes and country lanes made for an interesting and spritely drive. We managed to keep our group of six cars together all the way down to Rye where we met up with the others.

911UK February Breakfast Meet

The 911 was woken from its slumber to deliver us to our first breakfast meet of the year. The roads round to Badgers Mount are not the most exciting to drive, mainly the A2 and M25, but this car puts a smile on my face whatever road I’m on. Pulling in to the Toby Carvery we were greeted with an impressive line up of Porsche machinery. This was the first time I’d met up with the 911uk.com crowd and what a friendly bunch they are.
