Aubrey Halls classic car breakfast meet

Rock Channel Classics at Aubrey Halls

Sunday morning. It’s early, damp and dark. Nothing that would put us off a trip down to the south coast for Rock Channel Classics at Aubrey Halls.

With fresh front suspension and a new rear anti-roll bar, the Von Dirk 911 enjoyed a much-improved ride through Kent’s A and B roads. The difference was noted by my passenger, too. How bad must the old setup have been for them to notice?

With a smoother ride beneath us, we could enjoy everything the morning had to offer. A handful of fellow enthusiasts shared the A20 with us. Long shadows stretched across frost-covered fields as the sun slowly woke the day. Once clear of the main road, the twists and turns of the B roads started to entertain. The surface was slippery, and attention stayed firmly ahead as we carefully threaded our way between the hedgerows.

By the time we arrived, the overflow car park was already filling. Our 911 is apparently too young to qualify as a classic. No matter. It gave us an excuse to wander through the repurposed warehouse and enjoy the mix of machinery on display.

Aubrey Halls may be a relatively new venue, but it is quickly becoming a favourite. Georgia and the team have created something special. Cars, coffee, conversations and plenty of four-legged companions all come together rather nicely. Add Ground Up Coffee into the mix, and it’s easy to understand why so many people keep coming back.

Modified cars on Druid Street, South London

Wet Sunday mornings in South London are ForeverGood

With a gathering planned at ForeverGood in Druid Street, it was time to venture out into the rain. The Indian stayed in the garage this time. A warm, dry car felt like the sensible choice as South London disappeared beneath grey skies and steady drizzle.
