Tailoring and Torque: Where Sartorial Splendour Meets Automotive Excellence at Savile Row

Exquisite design, refined lines, and unmistakable style came together seamlessly at the Concours on Savile Row, celebrating the perfect marriage of fine tailoring and iconic automobiles. This event paid tribute to the best of both worlds, showcasing the pinnacle of craftsmanship in both fashion and automotive design.

Now in its third year, this glorious two-day event has traditionally enjoyed sunny weather, but this year, the first day was marked by a torrent of rain. Despite the downpour, spirits remained high, and the show went on, showcasing the resilience and enthusiasm of both participants and visitors. On day two, the red carpet was still a little damp, yet spirits were high, and so was the quality of the event.

Savile Row, located in the heart of London’s Mayfair, is famous for its exceptional men’s fashion and bespoke tailoring. With a history dating back to the 18th century, this street has built a reputation for crafting suits for royalty, celebrities, and anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship. Each tailor on Savile Row is known for their meticulous attention to detail and use of the finest materials, creating timeless pieces of fashion. Displaying a fine set of automotive design icons from the past to the present highlights the natural connection between the elegance of vintage automobiles and the refined style of bespoke tailoring. It’s a perfect blend of two worlds dedicated to craftsmanship and style, offering a unique experience for classic cars and high-end fashion enthusiasts.

More Two-Wheeled Delights

This year, the number of motorcycles on Savile Row increased noticeably, offering even more for enthusiasts to admire. Highlights included the sleek lines of the deBolex dB25, a handcrafted reimagining of the legendary Ducati Monster 1200. Zero Motorcycles showcased their stunning SR-X Concept—an electric bike I could easily see myself riding. Royal Enfield delivered a visual delight with the ‘Top Gear’ GT650 art bike, featuring a stunning livery inspired by Alexander Calder’s 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL Le Mans car.

The main stage offered an engaging mix of music and talks, featuring performances by the Swing Ninjas and The Filthy Six. Renowned car designer Peter Stevens discussed his new book on the JaguarSport XJR-15, while Ian Callum shared insights into the all-electric CALLUM Skye all-terrain vehicle, which had made its public debut the previous day. From the world of tailoring, Simon Cundey of Henry Poole provided expert advice on choosing a bespoke suit, adding a touch of sartorial wisdom to the event.
