London Classic Car Show 2018

Speeding Lamborghini Miura

I’d not been to the London Classic Car Show for a couple of years, so I was looking forward to an relaxed day full of great cars and great people. The Excel centre in London is a vast, featureless exhibition hall and I don’t feel it really does the cars justice. The organisers had dressed the central runway, albeit with just tyre walls, but something was lacking.
Trying to take photographs at any show is hard enough, but this is made even harder when indoors due to all the spot lights. The paddock area was really disappointing to wonder round. Although filled with awesome cars, there was no atmosphere, it felt as though you’d walked into a car park. With a little effort this area could have been dressed really well, imagine a paddock from yesteryear some garage façades and straw bails may have bought it to life. This classic car show has become more of a high-end classic car dealer show with a strong focus on sales. If you’re after photo opportunities, then I’d advise visiting later in the day when the crowds have died down.
