As January drew to a close, we headed across south east London to join the Detonators at Oxleas Wood Café. Grey skies and damp roads failed to keep anyone at home. Familiar faces appeared, coffee flowed, and the usual collection of hot rods and customs lined the car park.
Although we’ve never worn the club plaque, we’ve always felt welcome. Over the years, these Sunday mornings have become something of a ritual. A chance to catch up with friends, admire well-used machinery and enjoy a slower start to the day.
Perhaps the weather added something the sunshine couldn’t.
